What happens on Graduation Day?
Date of Graduation: 16th November, 2024.
Date of Graduation Rehearsal: 16th November, 2024 (3PM GMT).
Venue of Graduation: Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
Registration Closing Date: 13th November, 2024.

1 hour before your ceremony
- You and your guests should be seated in the graduation hall.
The Ceremony
- Your Ceremony will last approximately 3 hours.
After the Ceremony
- You will take a class photo after the ceremony.
Lining up takes place one hour before your ceremony starts
Your lining up will be in the venue.
You should leave any personal items such as handbags with your guests.

Your lining up is based on your programme. Ask a staff member with an ABS tag if you don’t know where you should go.
It is important that you get to the venue on time. During ‘lining up’ you will be:
- Briefed on how the Ceremony will run
- Briefed on what you will need to do and when
Lining up top tip
You will be on your feet for around 5 mins while the procession is taking place.
The academic procession enters the hall and the ceremony formally commences.

- Graduands will stand to be formally presented for their degree or diploma.
- The presiding officer will guide the Graduands onto the stage where they will be handed their dummy certificates.
- Once all Graduands in the conferral group have been presented, they will all stand, their degree or diploma will be formally conferred and applause will follow.
Ceremony do’s and don’ts for guests
- DO applaud Graduands as they cross the stage
- DO take photographs from your seat.
- DO use the restroom before the ceremony – it may be difficult to leave your seat in the middle of the ceremony
- DON’T stand up and block other guests views
- DON’T record the ceremony
- DON’T arrive late – Doors open 1 hour before the ceremony, and you should take your seat at least 30 min before the ceremony starts. Your seat may be given away if you are late.

In ceremony photos
During the ceremony, our photographer captures the moment when you shake hands with the Presiding Officer. 6×8 prints in a university mount are available to view and purchase shortly after the ceremony.
These photos can be purchased on the day of Graduation or later by contacting the graduation team after the ceremony.
Before / After Ceremony Photos
During graduation, your class will gather for a group photograph after the ceremony. You may also take individual or family photos before the ceremony.
Ceremony recordings
ABS’s ceremonies are professionally captured and recorded. If you wish to purchase a recording of your ceremony as a keepsake of your day, the Media Team will be available to showcase the range of products available.
You can order a specially mastered ceremony USB recording which will arrive 4 weeks after the ceremony.
Accra Business memorabilia
There is a wide range of memorabilia available to view online and purchase from ABS. The items available include diaries, mugs, key-holders, badges and T-shirts (lacoste) etc.
